Virtual Reality Training: A New Resource for Minimizing Behaviors of Incivility at Work

Live in Their World (LITW) is a program to help employees develop more respectful ways to interact with each other. We use proprietary, research backed training techniques and immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR) to foster deeper understanding of why colleagues from different demographic groups may experience certain actions as biased, disrespectful, or uncivil. With that understanding, we then help employees develop and practice new skills for respectful engagement at work.

Our program uses principles from the science of learning to create both (1) emotional learning, so people really “get” how bias and disrespect impact others and are therefore motivated to act differently, and (2) cognitive learning of new skills to interact more respectfully.

Live in Their World measures employee behavior change throughout the program.

Services Overview

The LITW Solution

Our program can increase empathy and motivation, and provide specific guidance about what to do as a respectful colleague—and make it easy to learn, in small “chunks” of information over time, so it’s easier to remember and use.

A Glimpse of a VR Track

In this clip, imagine that you are Jovontae, the Black man seated here, working quietly in a conference room. A colleague from Marketing - not your department - has just asked if he can talk to you.

Listen to see what he has to say. Can you spot the issue in his request? Can you think of some ways this situation can be addressed?

This Live in Their World program can help upskill your employees.
